The Production Designer thrives on the satisfaction of applying a design process and brand guidelines across multiple deliverables efficiently and with consistency. They live and breathe Adobe Indesign. They’re comfortable with design at scale and are ludicrously organized, must have expert knowledge of the print process, proofing and pre-press, as well as digital delivery. They have a keen eye for detail as the little things matter, tidy and they are proud of their output.

The Production Designer’s main role will be textbook and workbook design. We have thorough brand guidelines and a system to follow. We have our own typeface, which has been specifically designed to help early readers. We also have a continually expanding illustration library.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Create textbook and workbook layouts in InDesign, working from manuscripts.
  • Typesetting and typography amendments to textbook and workbook pages in InDesign.
  • Edit and re-purpose existing illustrations, covers, pages, etc.
  • Ensure designs support learning requirements, such as colour-blindness.
  • Adhere to style guide requirements and apply consistency across the series.
  • Ensure illustrations support learning requirements like colour-blindness.
  • Liaise with editors, authors, other designers, and project and product managers.
  • Support the development and maintenance of a master illustration library.
  • Maintain best-practice in file management, versioning and naming standards.
  • Support the development and maintenance of a master illustration library.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating the brand guidelines.
  • Deliver PDFs to specification.


A seasoned production designer that can work independently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Expert level in InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Meticulous, neat, detailed oriented and an excellent communicator.
  • Strong portfolio that demonstrates adeptness in design at scale.
  • 2+ years of experience in a production-focused design environment.
