Insights from Maths — No Problem! is a revolutionary online assessment tool that gives teachers an unprecedented level of clarity into how their class is performing. It allows teachers to quickly diagnose gaps in their pupils’ maths understanding and uncover what children are truly capable of.
Insights comes with new baseline assessment papers that let practitioners see what pupils have retained from previous years, an essential feature given Covid-related disruptions. Baseline assessments are done once a year in September, allowing teachers to see where pupils stand and to get them back on track, making up for educational time lost to the pandemic.
These papers were written by Louise Hoskyns-Staples, our lead assessment author and senior lecturer in mathematics education at the University of Worcester. Louise has worked as a maths test development researcher for the Department for Education, and as a headteacher in an Essex primary school. She is also a national maths lead.
“Before now, assessment rarely resulted in anything that was useful for the students,” says Andy Psarianos, CEO, Maths — No Problem! “That’s why we spent years developing Insights. It gives teachers the information they need to make better decisions about what students need.”
Insights assesses not only what children have learned but also how they’re learning. The tool gives a precise view of where pupils are located in the six levels of the cognitive domain — remembering, understanding, applying, analyzing, evaluating, and creating. Our competitors may claim to offer this, but they don’t.
