Extending Thinking: Responding When They Already Know It

When pupils already know the content, our role is to respond with meaningful challenge. In this session, we explore how Explore tasks, representation shifts and reasoning prompts can deepen learning without accelerating ahead or separating groups. We’ll share strategies that promote generalisation, comparison and rich mathematical reasoning while keeping lessons inclusive and coherent.
