When teachers are properly supported with high-quality resources, children’s lives are forever changed for the better.

Our mission

We see a future where every child is a confident mathematician

At the heart of Maths — No Problem! is the belief that every child can become a confident problem-solver and mathematician. We also know that strong outcomes in maths start with the right tools and materials. That’s our high-quality resources empower every educator with high-quality resources, confidence and support to teach maths effectively.

Future success starts in childhood

Maths anxiety and learning barriers, such as those experienced by disadvantaged, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners, cause low confidence and lower outcomes in maths, impacting future academic and professional opportunities. When pupils are supported by a programme that works for them they are able to accomplish more. A strong mathematics education is a strong start in life. We at Maths — No Problem! envision a future where all children, regardless of their background, have equity in maths education and teachers feel confident and supported. Everyday we bring that future closer to the present.

Pupils who use Maths — No Problem! are:

140%

more likely to meet the standard expectations set by the government

117%

more likely to exceed the standard expectations set by the government

280%

more likely to exceed the standard expectations set by the government if they are disadvantaged pupils

Where it began

Andy Psarianos still remembers watching his daughter, Anthea, struggle with maths anxiety when she was in primary school two decades ago. Desperate to help, he researched potential solutions and discovered Singapore’s mastery approach. He ordered some books, and, together, he and Anthea worked through the lessons. Her anxiety soon turned to confidence. Andy was hooked on maths mastery.

"I could see there was something special to [mastery]."

Other parents, then schools, became interested and he found himself ordering more and more books. He immersed himself in maths mastery, researching everything, sitting through hundreds of training sessions, seeking out experts. “It became my mission to share the value of this maths approach.” He created a website, and in 2007, Maths — No Problem! was born.

It was a kind of redemption for Andy, who struggled with maths as a kid growing up in Montréal. Now, eradicating maths anxiety is his raison d’etre.

"There’s nothing I hate more than hearing the sound of a door closing on the future because a child thinks he or she is bad at maths."
Andy PsarianosMaths — No Problem! CEO and Founder

Andy quit a lucrative IT job to devote himself full time to bringing maths mastery to the UK and in 2014, he and his wife, Dr. Anne Hermanson, published the first Maths — No Problem! textbooks. In 2017, after a competitive national review against several high-profile global publishers, Maths — No Problem! became the only mastery textbook to win approval from the UK Department for Education for use in schools.

Under Andy's leadership, Maths — No Problem! has become one of the UK's most widely adopted mathematics programs. Former UK Prime Minister David Cameron and Nick Gibb, the former UK Schools Standards Minister, praised Maths — No Problem! for its effectiveness in teaching mathematics. Renowned British mathematician, the late Tony Gardiner, commended the programme's impact. It has been officially recognized by the New Zealand government.

The Maths — No Problem! pedagogy starts with real-life Explore tasks that develop problem-solving and communication skills. It is a highly visual programme that is effective for every child, including those with special education needs.

Teachers say things like “we couldn’t imagine going back to teaching maths without using Maths — No Problem!”

Andy’s core motivation hasn’t changed. It’s “to give every child in the world the same chance his daughter had: to overcome math anxiety and become a confident mathematician.”
