Course Objectives
This teacher professional development course aims to:
- Support a thorough understanding of the pedagogy behind teaching and learning whole numbers.
- Initiate a change in educators' mindsets regarding the teaching and learning of whole numbers.
- Provide a practical framework for lesson planning and creating engaging learning experiences focused on whole numbers.
- Advance educators to an expert level of knowledge on the subject of whole numbers.
Participants will emerge from this course with a deep insight into how whole numbers are taught and learned in primary. By taking on the role of students themselves, educators will gain insight into the student learning experience, fostering empathy with the learning process.
The course is designed to equip teachers with both the content knowledge and pedagogical skills necessary to teach whole numbers effectively. This ensures that pupils not only develop a conceptual understanding and fluency in working with whole numbers but are also equipped to apply their knowledge in a wide range of both familiar and new situations.
Who this is course intended for?
This course is an excellent next step after the three-day The Essentials of Teaching Maths Mastery, therefore it is strongly recommended that participants attend that course before registering for this one.
