Course Objectives
This teacher professional development course is designed to:
- Develop a deep understanding of teaching and learning mathematics in the Early Years Foundation Stage.
- Foster a shift in teacher mindset regarding the teaching and learning of mathematics.
- Provide a practical understanding of lesson structure and learning experiences for teaching in the Early Years.
- Explain how the Maths — No Problem! Foundations programme supports mathematical development in the Early Years.
Educators will leave the course with a comprehensive understanding of mathematics teaching and learning in the early years. By working through real school lessons, where teachers assume the role of students, participants will gain empathy for the learning process.
The course aims to equip teachers with both the necessary content knowledge and the pedagogical content knowledge to teach young pupils, enabling them to meet the Early Learning Goals and establish a solid foundation in mathematics.
Who this is course intended for?
This course is intended for primary school teachers who want to learn the essentials of the mastery approach to teaching mathematics in the Early Years Foundation Stage. This course is an excellent next step after the three-day The Essentials of Teaching Maths Mastery, therefore it is strongly recommended that participants attend that course before registering for this one.
